Introducing the finished Lodore Falls Spa Gardens!
Over 40 locals, a kaleidoscope of butterflies and even the glorious sun made an appearance for the official Falls Spa Garden Opening Ceremony that was held at the Lodore Falls on Tuesday 10th September 2019!
Nearly a year since The Falls Spa opened its doors to the public, the beautiful spa gardens have been a work-in-progress since November 2018 and the garden opening ceremony celebrated the final stage of the £13 million development.
Charles Graves, Dani Hope & Kit Graves (Directors of Lake District Hotels Ltd), Bruce Walker (Garden Architect from Westwood Landscape), (Matt Collins (General Manager at Lodore Falls Hotel & Spa).
An anthophile’s utopia
Surrounding the opulent spa complex, the gardens feature a Japanese-style rock garden with Azaleas, Bamboo, Rhododendrons and many more pretty plants and flowers. You can also find a riverside walkway that leads to a relaxed terrace within the rose garden, a perfect setting for a sunny afternoon out or for a Lake District wedding.
The garden also features plenty of seated areas to appreciate the sights and scents of the glorious flowers and to soak in those 360-deree views of Derwentwater and the Cat Bells mountain range that visitors near and far flock to the Lodore Falls for.
The day’s events
The official opening consisted of guided tours of the grounds, including descriptions of the plants, exclusive tours of the chic spa suites and a fabulous ambience was created by talented singer Glen Anderson who reeled off all the classics.
Guests were also given the chance to sample some of the exotic flavours from our brand-new Mizu menu, as well as some of the sweet delicacies from the hotel’s new afternoon tea offering as well, with canapes from each provided throughout the event.
“We have had an excellent afternoon at our official spa gardens opening, even the sun made an appearance. A huge thank you to everyone who was involved in creating our beautiful gardens, all who turned up today and the incredible Glen Anderson, who provided a marvellous afternoon of entertainment.” – Matt Collins
A huge thanks to the whole gardening team
The botanical paradise was brought to life by Westwood Landscape‘s distinguished garden designer, Bruce Walker, whose imaginative and exciting designs have turned the Lodore Falls grounds into a floral haven.
“The gardens compliment the prestigious new Spa with Lakeland slate walls and scented rose arbours enclosing terraced patios and seating features with distinct planting styles.” – Bruce Walker
Not only have they perfectly framed the state-of-the-art spa construction, but they offer guests a comfortable spot to soak up the natural beauty of the Lakes while enhancing the already-dramatic experience.
Like the Scandi-inspired spa building itself, the gardens have taken months of planning and preparation and it was a pleasure that so many local business people and company friends turned up to commemorate all the hard work.
